In my third year of college, we launched IncogApp: an anonymous platform where users could post without revealing their identity. What set us apart was the engagement-based rewards system — every like, comment, or subscription earned in-app coins and strengthened user profiles.
Context
It began as an experiment: what if anonymity met gamified engagement? The idea was bold for a college team — post freely, build reputation through participation, and let the community decide who rises.
The story
The experiment struck a chord faster than we expected. Users leaned into the anonymity, and the rewards loop kept them coming back — likes, comments, and subscriptions weren't just vanity metrics; they were currency.
Soon, IncogApp was selected among the top 100 startups under the prestigious Google & MeitY Appscale Academy programme — built to nurture India's most promising startups. Only 100 apps nationwide made the cut.
For a bunch of college students, this was surreal. We weren't competing in a student hackathon anymore — we were playing in the big leagues, sharing a national stage with companies that had already won the market.

What happened next
A year later, our journey ended abruptly when regulations changed and the app was removed from the Play Store. It was heartbreaking. But looking back, we didn't just build an app — we built something that earned national recognition, and more importantly, confidence in ourselves.
